Summer Research Training Program • an opportunity to participate • in virtually all aspects of a research project with the guidance of a faculty research mentor. • This includes: • reviewing literature • helping design a project, if not already done; • doing the project; • analyzing the results; and • presenting your findings at Student Research Forum
Major points • Identify a mentor (at KUMC or outside University) • Applications due April 1, 2014 • 8 weeks of 40 hours/week = 4 units of credit • 4 weeks of 40 hours/week = 2 units of credit • 8 weeks of 20 hours/week = 2 units of credit • Summer Course on Research (4 lunchtime lectures) • You can write a paper or present at the Student Research Forum or National Meetings or all of the above to receive academic credit.
Broad Research Scholarship Areas • Basic and Translational Science Research • Clinical Science Research • 10 Scholarships of $1,000 each • Competitive application process (63 students last year)
