  1. What you will need... Sewing thread Sewing machine or hand sewing kit Sharp scissors Needles Pins Tape measure 1 metre of pretty material (anything you fancy! 1 metre of lining material ( a colour that matches your ‘pretty material’ 2 metres of ribbon (any colour you want)

  2. Measure and cut your material • Measure your waist, hips and bum and write them down • The width of the material is the size of your hips plus another half measurement of your hips added on. • Measure yourself from your hip to your knee and add an inch of material to make room for the hem of your skirt. ( the folded up bit of the material so it doesn’t fray. • This measurement is your length. • Mark on the material your measurements using the tap measure! (I used masking tape to mark out areas to cut. • Make sure you do this with both pieces of material. • Then cut out your shapes.

  3. Hemming and Pinning! • After you have cut all your material out it is time to start hemming! • Basically, at the edge of the material fold half an inch back and pin it back (see picture) • Do this to 3 sides out of 4, leave one of the longer edges hem free! • This is where you are going to be sewing! • So do this both pieces of material and to each of the sides.

  4. Lets get sewing! • Whether you are hand sewing or have a sewing machine. Either way, they will both work and turn out great! • I used a sewing machine... So be careful and watch you hands if you are a beginner with them. • Ok, so get the hem of your material and run the sewing machine across the half inch you prepared earlier! • Try your best to keep the sewing line as straight as possible, otherwise it might look a bit odd! • Do this to three sides of the four sides on pieces of material, as mentioned before.

  5. Ok! Lets get it together! • Ok, so we have done all the sewing and hemming. • Next up you need to fetch your ribbon and attach it to the top both pieces of your material! • Line the two pieces of material up together and pin the ribbon to the top. • Make sure you pin both of the pieces of material under the ribbon as you don’t want to have gaps!!! • Leave a good amount of ribbon out the ends of the top of the material so you have ribbon to wrap around you! • When it is all pinned and in line, get back on that sewing machine or get back to your needle and thread and attach all three pieces! • After that, all you have to do is neaten it up by cutting away bits of threads!

  6. Done, done and done!
