Procedure • Continue wearing the safety goggle, gloves, and pulling hair back out of eyes. • Gather materials • Open the zip lock bag. Carefully pour the sodium bicarbonate and the calcium chloride into the bag. Then add 50 drops of the phenol red. Quickly close the bag tightly. • Mix together by kneading the bag. Due to the nature of this activity, quickly knead and place on the table. We don’t want to blow up the lab.
