  14. 1.) Be on time! Be in class before the bell rings. Otherwise go see the closest Assistant Principal. 2.) Be prepared!  Bring all materials to class (composition book, pen/pencil, homework), and sit in your assigned seat. 3.) Be respectful!  Treat all of your classmates, teachers, and the classroom environment with respect. 4.) Be an active participant!  Volunteer your opinions and insight during class discussions.   15. We have a class set of literature books that will be stored on the classroom book shelf. There is online access as well if you need it to complete any work.

  16. Homework / Late Work Policy • Late Work Policy: • 1 Day Late: -20 Points • 2 Days Late: -40 Points • 3+ Days Late: -50 Points • If you miss school and provide a doctor’s note, extra time will be provided. • Most work will be completed in class.

  17. turnitin.com • Essays will be checked for plagiarism. • Plagiarism = A Zero for a Major Grade • No printed essay? It’s late! • I will not print your essays for you!

  22. “Window of Opportunity” Project • Use the provided poster board to display your career choice, or for Extra Credit purchase/donate poster boards for you and a few of your classmates. • On Monday, August. 27 you will give a 2-3 presentation over your research for a major grade. • Exit Ticket: Using salary.com tell me the career and college you want to research.

  24. Warm Up – Thursday, Aug. 23 Directions: Circle nouns and underline verbs. Derrick is incredibly fascinated by codes. He and several friend eagerly use codes with letters, numbers, very simple pictures, and invisible ink. Sometimes, they carefully copy old codes that they have studied. Other times, the clever boys create entirely new systems. Derrick, Ramon, Scott, and Chris have become skilled and enthusiastic makers and breakers of codes. As a result, no one was surprised yesterday when Mrs. Chin asked the boys for help with a mysterious letter. She had recently found it in her mailbox.
