Edmodo is a social networking platform that takes the ideas of a social network and refines them making it appropriate for a classroom.
How can I use Edmodo in the classroom? • Utilize the Emodo quiz builder or poll feature to assess student’s learning. • Design discussion boards • Peer reviews & Critiques • Share writing projects • Build digital citizenship skills “Netiquette” • Collaborate with other teachers and education professionals • Communicate with students when you’re out of the classroom, or provide updates to students who are absent from class. • Grade quizzes, homework, and provide feedback.
Things you should know • As the teacher, you can interact with your students, administrators, parents, and other educators. • Parents may send messages to the teacher and their child. They may not interact with other members of the group. • Students cannot directly interact with each other. They can only communicate with the “group.” • Students and parents may not gain access to a particular group without being given the code to that group. The teacher will then grant or deny access. • It’s important to educate students and parents on the security and privacy settings on Edmodo.
