GQ1 Guiding Question 2 How can one become more literate (i.e., read for knowledge, write coherently and think critically) using social media (i.e.,creating and exchanging user-generated content) to pay attention, develop network awareness, participate, collaborate, and detect “crap” (critical consumption) when he/she is online?

  4. Examples Blog Comments and Forums Social Networks • Services that allow individuals to connect with other people who share similar interest or backgrounds. • Online messaging or commenting usually pertaining to other users posts on a general topic of discussion.

  5. Examples Social News Media Sharing • Applications which allows numerous post of articles • Also permits user to vote on articles to decide which should be seen more by the public • Any service that allows users to share photos, video, music, or any other type of media over the internet.

  7. As more people use these services they begin to realize the multiple applications and benefits of being part of an ever growing social networking community.
