The labours of Alex. How it all began. Hercules, now immortal from his father’s divine grace, has gotten bored with life on Olympus. Following a whim, he descends from the heavens to Queens , New York , where he finds the home of his great grandson.

How it all began Hercules, now immortal from his father’s divine grace, has gotten bored with life on Olympus. Following a whim, he descends from the heavens to Queens , New York , where he finds the home of his great grandson. You are Alex – An ordinary teenage boy as skinny and weak unlike the strong Hercules. Alex is a slacker – too lazy to even do his own chores at home. “It’s Hercules!” The sight of this legend amazes you. Unfortunately, Hercules was under the impression that his great-grand son was strong and determined like he was. He was upset upon setting sights on you, who is weak and frail. Hercules then decided – to train you to be as strong as he is. And so, with much bumbling, tripping and gods-know-what , the labors of Alex begins!
How to play Choose your own adventure. You need a paper, pencil and two dice. Different routes leads to different side stories. Battles will be turn-based ( e.g. roll two dice , 2-6 = enemy attack , 8-12 = you attack. 7 = both attacks ) Items increases roll value. (e.g. if you rolled 4 , and have a special item , it adds 1 to your dice roll value. 4 + 1 = 5. ) Alex initial HP = 10+1 dice roll. Initial damage is 1.
0 The sight of the legendary Hercules amazes you. “What? I’m the grand-son of a myth god? I cannot believe this” You couldn’t believe what that old-man told you. “Hey Alex! My dear grand-son. I’m here today to tell you about Olympus and about The Battle of Olympians! Zeus is hosting a tournament for all our grand-children to take part in it and I’m here to train you !” Go to page 1.
1 Dumbfounded , You insisted that this man was crazy and ignored him. However, Hercules was persistent in sticking with You and your daily life. Soon enough, you realized that only YOU can see Hercules. No one else can see this mythical god. “Alright , what do you want from me? I’m getting tired of all these crap. Firstly, I’m harassed by my neighbor's cat and now a mythical god? Do you want to ignore Hercules and go back home? Turn to page 3. Or do you want to face Hercules and talk it out? Turn to page 5.
2 I will not allow this attitude of yours! Angry , Hercules punched you in the face which sent you flying across your room. Deduct 5 health. Go to page 5.
3 You returned home but to see Hercules stubbornly following you. “Alex my child, we have to talk things out! Do not anger me with your foolishness!” Or do you want to face Hercules and talk it out? Turn to page 5. Persist in ignoring this crazy man?Turn to page 2.
4 Escaping to your house , you spot a broom which could be used to attack the cat. You grabbed it and got in position to fight. The broom increased your dice roll value by 1! (No idea how to fight? Refer to “how to play” section.) Cat Hp: 2 Dmg: 1 If you survived turn to page 7.
5 “Look here my child, I will guide you and make you stronger! I will give you your first trial and that is your neighbor’s cat! I have taunted it with your image , and now it is crazily hunting for you , go get the cat now ! Without having any time to speak your mind , the cat appeared behind Hercules. It looks crazed and is about to attack anytime. Would you:Run back to your house for safety? Turn to page 4. Face the cat ? Turn to page 6.
6 Facing the cat directly , you got in position to battle. (No idea how to fight? Refer to “how to play” section.) Cat Hp: 2 Dmg: 1 If you survived turn to page 7.
7 “Well done my child! You gave the cat a taste of pain! No time for rest though , let me bring you to the zoo for your second trial ! But first let me heal you up!” Replenish 2 HP. Hercules then brings you to the zoo. This zoo is peculiar – one that you have never seen before. The animals are different than what you’ve seen – 2-headed lions , horned camels and such. Hercules brought you to the cage of a komodo dragon. However, the sight of it shocks you. It’s a 9-headed komodo dragon! Go to page 8.
8 “Here is a sword to aid you in battling the komodo dragon, however, you have to know that it isn’t as easy as fighting the cat!” “Each time you chop off a head of the dragon grows two back. You have to find a way to defeat it or you’ll die.” Dumbfounded, you have no choice to step into the cage. Hercules sealed off the exit. It is do or die. The dragon stands before you. With its 9 heads ready to strike. What will you do ?Lunge at its head? Go to page 11. Look around for possible clues? Go to page 9. Stay put and see what it does next? Go to page 14.
9 Looking around , you see a matchstick and hills of hay scattered around the cage. Is it possible to burn the dragon? Could it be his weakness? While pondering , the dragon leaped and attacked you , losing 1 health. With no time to lose, you have to quickly make a decision: Strike back at the dragon? Go to page 12. Set fire to the hay? Go to page 10.
10 You began setting fire to the hay scattered around the cage. The dragon turned into a frenzy and began to roar. “Its working! The dragon is afraid of fire!” Without delay , you picked your sword and slashed one of its head off. However, something’s amiss. The head began to split and grow. Something must be done. Burn the head stump with fire? Go to page 20. Lunge at its body? Go to page 16.
11 Striking at the dragon’s head , you successfully chopped one of its head off. However, two heads began to grow. Panicking , you backed off to the edge of the cage. Would you: Attempt to attack the dragon while it is healing? Go to page 13. Look around for clues? Go to page 9.
12 Counter-attacking the dragon made it back off. However, no significant damage was done. The dragon soon got into position to strike again. Would you: Attempt to stab its body and ignore its head? Got to page 16. Set fire to the hay? Go to page 10.
13 Picking up courage, you charged towards it. The dragon didn’t anticipate your sudden attack and got another head chopped off. However, the heads still began to grow. Realizing that you have to find another alternative , it was too late. The dragon charged and pushed you to the corner , leaving you no choice but to fight it head-on. Komodo Dragon Hp: 5 Dmg 1 The komodo dragon is able to recover 1 hp after every 2 turns due to the multiplication of its head. If you survived go to page 18.
14 You got into defense position and observed the dragon. The dragon also laid low and began observing what you would do.Seconds passed without any parties moving an inch. Would you: Continue observing the dragon? Go to page 17. Look around for clues? 9 Lunge at its head? Go to page 11.
15 Grabbing your sword, you prepare to battle the dragon. 9-headed komodo dragon Hp: 4 Dmg: 1 If you survived , go to page 18.
16 You attempt to lunge towards the dragon’s body. However, it managed to dodge your impending attack and pinned you down to the ground. Your sword was knocked away by the dragon. With no weapons left and being pinned , Try to call for Hercules? Go to page 17. Attempt to break free? Go to page 19.
17 You continued to remain in defense position. However, the dragon suddenly leapt towards you and attacked. Managing to block its strike , you backed a few steps away from the dragon. The dragon attacked again , giving you no time to breathe. After managing to block another strike and being pushed back , you began to notice – the dragon is pushing you away from the stacks of hay and the matches. The area around you has very little hay. “Setting fire to the hay might be the key to defeating it !” Would you : Attempt to run across the cage to set fire to the hay? Go to page 21. Lunge at its head? Go to page 11.
18 The 9-headed komodo is slain! “Excellent my child! You have done very well. You deserve some rest and we will resume training tomorrow!” Letting out a sigh of relief , you go back home to rest. To be continued…
19 You managed to successfully dodge the dragon’s charge. It slammed into the walls of the cage and also burnt itself due to the flames from the hay. The dragon looks very frail and it is about time to finish it off. Grabbing your sword, you charged at it: Komodo Dragon Hp: 1 Dmg: 1 If you survived , turn to page 18.
20 Grabbing the hay which caught fire , you charged at the dragon and attacked the head stump with it. The head stump was burnt and the heads seemed to stop growing. In retaliation , the dragon attacked with a swing of its tail , sending you to the walls. Deduct 1 hp. The dragon became mad and charged at everything it sees. Would you:Attempt to dodge the dragon? Go page 19. Try to fight it head on? Go to page 15.
21 Running across the cage gave the dragon an opportunity to attack , resulting in a loss of 1 hp. Go to page 10.
