A standard JTF headquarters organization does not exist. JTFs take many forms and sizes as they are employed across the range of military operations in air, land, and maritime environments. • The specific organization and staffing of a JTF varys depending upon the mission assigned, the operational environment, the makeup of existing and potential adversaries, and the time available to reach the desired end state. • The commander, joint task force (CJTF) may organize the JTF staff in any manner that supports accomplishing the mission. However, a JTF headquarters normally is formed along traditional staff lines and sized according to mission requirements as described in this standing operating procedure (SOP).
