A sentence is complete when there is : • A subject • A predicate, and • A complete thought • Example: INCOMPLETE: The mail in the box (needs a verb) COMPLETE: The mail in the box is for you. Complete sentence http://www.makemedia.com/
Combine choppy sentences : • Coordinating and Sub coordinating conjunctions • Run-on sentences: • Use a period • Use a semicolon • Use a comma and a coordinating conjunction • Transitions: • Examples: • Locations- between, onto, near, and behind. • Time- first, next, today, as soon as, and finally. • Comparing- also, as, in the same way, and like. • Contrast- although, even though, yet, and however. • Emphasize the point- a fact, the main point, and actually. • Similarities- all in all, finally, to sum up, and as a result. • Add information- also, as well, another, and along with. • Clarify- for example, for instance , and in other words.
