2 But the days are coming,”declares the Lord,“when I will sound the battle cryagainst Rabbah of the Ammonites;it will become a mound of ruins, and its surrounding villages will be set on fire. Then Israel will drive outthose who drove her out,”says the Lord.

Edom (means red, descendants of Essau) • 17 “Edom will become an object of horror;all who pass by will be appalled and will scoffbecause of all its wounds.18 As Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown, along with their neighboring towns,”says the Lord,“so no one will live there;no people will dwell in it.
20 Therefore, hear what the Lord has planned against Edom, what he has purposed against those who live in Teman:The young of the flock will be dragged away;their pasture will be appalled at their fate.21 At the sound of their fall the earth will tremble;their cry will resound to the Red Sea.[c

And all will be desolation. • 12 Woe to the many nations that rage—they rage like the raging sea!Woe to the peoples who roar—they roar like the roaring of great waters!
13 Although the peoples roar like the roar of surging waters, when he rebukes them they flee far away, driven before the wind like chaff on the hills, like tumbleweed before a gale.14 In the evening, sudden terror! Before the morning, they are gone! This is the portion of those who loot us,the lot of those who plunder us.

“‘I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, you great monster lying among your streams. You say, “The Nile belongs to me;I made it for myself.”4 But I will put hooks in your jawsand make the fish of your streams stick to your scales.I will pull you out from among your streams, with all the fish sticking to your scales.5 I will leave you in the desert, you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open fieldand not be gathered or picked up.I will give you as foodto the beasts of the earth and the birds of the sky.
6 Then all who live in Egypt will know that I am the Lord. • “‘You have been a staff of reed for the people of Israel. 7 When they grasped you with their hands, you splintered and you tore open their shoulders; when they leaned on you, you broke and their backs were wrenched.[a]
8 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will bring a sword against you and kill both man and beast. 9 Egypt will become a desolate wasteland. Then they will know that I am the Lord. • “‘Because you said, “The Nile is mine; I made it,”
10 therefore I am against you and against your streams, and I will make the land of Egypt a ruin and a desolate waste from Migdol to Aswan, as far as the border of Cush.[b]11 The foot of neither man nor beast will pass through it; no one will live there for forty years. 12 I will make the land of Egypt desolate among devastated lands, and her cities will lie desolate forty years among ruined cities. And I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries.
