Key Words: Common, proper Notes/examples: • Common Noun = person, place, thing, or idea (ex: teacher) • Proper Noun = a Particular person, place, thing, or idea (ex: Mrs. McKim) LET’S TRY IT: We play kickball on Miller’s Field. Good is stronger than evil. A person grows by facing obstacles. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Key Words: appositive Notes/examples: • Appositive = a word or group of words that explains the noun. • Appositives are set off by a comma, or two commas if in the middle • Let’s Try It: Gruffy, my cat, unfortunately is bad-tempered. Sal wants to climb Mt. Everest, one of the tallest mountains in the world.
