Understand motion, forces, and energy. 17 Questions 8 Questions 8 Questions 11 Questions 11 Questions Total = 55 Questions TAKS Tests Five Objectives
To understand the nature of science. How to do science. Understand what the 5 objectives mean. • To understand the • organization of living • systems. 2. Body Biology 3. To understand the interdependence of organisms and the environment. 3. Environmental Biology 4. Chemistry 4. To understand the structures and properties of matter. 5. To understand motion, forces, and energy. 5. Physics
If you can recognize a question’s objective then it helps you to answer it!So REALLY LEARN them.
Step 2: Understand the timing. • You can take all day if you want but understand that you will get tired. • There are 55 questions to answer on the Science TAKS.
Step 3: Know how to use the tools you are given. • Periodic Table • Formula Chart • Ruler
Objective 1:(How to do science)The first and largest TAKS objective depends less on memorization of facts and more on your experience and ability to think.
TAKS Objective 1Tests your ability to think and work like a scientist.Questions for this objective test your ability to: apply critical thinking skills. evaluate and interpret data in the form of tables, charts, and graphs. manipulate experimental data and solve problems based on experiments. use the scientific method recognize and use common lab equipment. stay safe in the lab.
Objective 2: Understanding the organization of living systems.(Body Biology) This objective requires you to memorize details.
Objective 3:(Environmental Biology)This objective requires you to be familiar with the relationship between living things and the world in which they live - both the living and non-living worlds. You don’t have to memorize but understanding will lead you to making correct decisions.
Objective 4:Chemistry Note:Chemistry questions rely on the Periodic Table. Know how it is organized and what each piece of information means.
Objective 5:PhysicsThis objective will need to use the formula chart and math to answer most questions. The formula chart gives you commonly used formulas and facts. It doesn’t tell you how to use them or when to use them - that’s up to you!
Read the question • Identify whichTAKS objective is being tested. • Identify what you need to answer the question. • periodic table – formula chart – ruler – prior knowledge • Scan the answers to see if they can give you additional information. • Reread the question again and look for additional information you missed the first time. • Answer the question. Strategy for each Question
Using these steps will help you to slow down and answer the questions after thinking them through. This will reduce the number of careless errors.
