The Municipality of Prespes • The Prespes Municipality is located in the north-west (NW) of Greece, on the borders of Greece, Albania and fYROM • 50 km away from Florina & 45 km away from Kastoria • Surface area 413,513 ha & 1,570 inhabitants (2011 Census) • One of the largest but least populated Municipalities in Greece

PEEBPE Project Data • Programme: IPA Cross-Border Program “Greece-fYROM” • Priority Axis 2: Enhancement of the environmental resources and cultural heritage of the programme area • Measure 2.1: Promote & protect the environmental resources of the area • Project Title: Promotion of Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Protection of the Environment (Acronym: PEEBPE) • Project Partners: • TEI KOZANI (GREECE) [Lead Partner-LP1] • MUNICIPALITY OF RESEN (FYROM) [LP2] • MUNICIPALITY OF PRESPES (GREECE) [P3] • ARCHAM BITOLA (FYROM) [P4]

  4. Project Duration - Budget • Project Duration (for the whole project): 22/02/2013 – 12/02/2015 (25 months) • Project Duration (for the Greek Partners): 22/02/2013 - 21/11/2014 (21 months)

WP1: Management & Coordination • Participation of Prespes Municipality Team to the following PEEBPE Project Meetings: • PEEBPE Kick-Off Meeting (Kozani, 12/12/2013) • 2nd Project Meeting (Bitola, 17-18/12/2013) • Organization of the current 3rd Project Coordination Meeting (Florina, 11/7/2014)

WP2: Information and Publicity • Contribution to the development and operation of the PEEBPE official project web-site (www.peebpe.eu) & Continuous Updates • Development and launching of Press Releases regarding the Prespes Municipality involvement in the project • Participation to the BEE-RES 2014 International Conference in Kozani • Cooperation with other EU-funded projects (MARIE, GRASP, etc.)

  10. WP3: Detailed Energy Audits of Public Buildings • On-site measurements and detailed Energy Audits have been carried out (by TEI Western Macedonia) on the selected buildings in Prespes Municipality

  11. WP4: Energy Efficiency Improvement of Public Buildings Two Selected Buildingsin Prespes Municipality: Kindergarten – Agios Germanos Elementary School – Agios Germanos

WP4: Energy Efficiency Improvement of Public Buildings • The 3 Studies on the Interventions at the 2 buildings of Prespes Municipality have been delivered • The Tender Procedure for the Selection of the Construction Company that will implement the Interventions at the 2 buildings, has been almost completed • Signing of the Contract & Commencement of the construction works at the two buildings at Agios Germanos-Prespes: mid July 2014

WP5: Establishment of Info Centers on Energy Issues • Establishment of a Regional Information Center on Energy Efficiency Issues, at the premises of the Prespes Municipality, for providing the following types of services: • Information • Consultancy • Educational • Project Development • Technical • Detailed Power-Point Presentation Available

Results & Benefits • The Issuance of Energy Certificates for the buildings of Prespes Municipality  these buildings will become directly exploitable • The folder creationfor the buildings of Prespes Municipality • The almost absolute energy improvement of two municipal buildings with strong social interest

  15. Results & Benefits • The maturation of buildings’ energy studies • The direct resources saving from the part of Prespes Municipality • The completion of a scientific study – a study with no precedent in terms of number of buildings andof an area of high climatic interest as well

  16. Results & Benefits • The Production of a Databank on Energy Efficiency International Practices • The Development of a Guide on Buildings’ Energy Audit along with Measurements • The Sharing of Expertise & Experiences – Exchange of Know How

  17. The final project’s results • will be diffused in the most dynamic way in order to raise the awareness of citizens and authorities • will constitute examples in environmental & energy issues for public buildings • will form the basis for the improvement of the existing buildings and the designing and construction of future buildings in the region • will provide incentives for the reduction of the energy wastage of the country’s public buildings
