  1. Validation of ORCA05 regional configuration of the Arctic North Atlantic Christophe HERBAUT and Marie-Noëlle HOUSSAIS Charles DELTEL LOCEAN, Université Paris VI / CNRS

  2. Arctic-North Atlantic ice-ocean model • ORCALIM model • Model domain : • 30°S in the Atlantic to ~50°N in the Pacific • Resolution :0.5°cos(latitude) ~25 km • Open BC prescribed from the global ORCA05 version with radiating conditions • Control experiment : • Daily atmospheric surface fields : Downward SW and LW, SAT, SLP,SAT, Tdew, U10 and t from ERA40 reanalysis (1958-2001). Monthly precipitation. • Correction on SAT in the Arctic (IABP/POLES) and radiation outside the Arctic(ISCCP) • Climatological run-off from ArcticNet • Relaxation to climatological SST and SSS at the surface

  3. Model climatology Ocean circulation at 20 m 2000 m • Greenland Scotland Ridge transports : • Atlantic Water : • IFR : 5 Sv (net) • FSC : 1.5 Sv • DS : 1 Sv • Dense outflow : • FSC ~ 2.5 Sv • DS ~ 3 Sv
