  2. RobinThe red breasted bird is the UK’s favourite bird.You normally see them flying about at Christmas day. At night they normally sing around the lamppost. • Where it lives A robin lives in a garden because they like the food that the garden provides. • What it looks like A robin is famed for its red breast. It is a small bird with a pointed beak. It has a small round black eye and brown the feather wings. • What it eats The robin eats peanuts, insects, seeds and grain. It can feed off the ground.   3. MagpieThe Magpie is the UK’s least popular bird because it is a scavenger and it will fight anything for it’s food. • Where it lives This type of bird lives in fields, wood and bushes. It likes these places because there is lots of places to hide. • What it looks like The black and white bird is easy to recognise because it has a very long tail with a mixture of metallic blues and greens. • What it eats Magpies are scavengers.

It has lots of pretty colours on it because it wants to show off. • Where it lives This bird lives in pretty gardens and long woods because it finds its food there. • What it looks like this bird has got a yellow beak and a white spotty belly with brown and white wings. • What it eats This pretty bird eats worms, it has good eye sight. A blackbird sings a lovely song in the morning. • Where it lives A Blackbird is used to being around humans. • What it looks like A male blackbird is black and a female blackbird is brown. It is called the Blue tit. • Where it lives The blue crown lives in the wood and garden because they find the food they want. • What it looks like Blue tit’s have a blue crown, yellow tummy and white face. • What they eat Blue tit’s eat insects, nuts, seeds and spiders. They have short blunt wings which enable them to fly among these easily. • Where it lives All year around but often more obvious in Autumn where they travel most in search of corn and hazelnuts. • What it looks like It has a blue crown, pointy black beak, a white stripes, short tail, white breast and little black feet. • What it eats It eats worms, berries, eats them from the ground and bird table. House sparrowThe House sparrow is the UK’s favourite common bird because every time you see the House sparrow everyone recognises it. • Where it lives In towns, countryside's, far lands where they’re safe. • What it looks like A House sparrow looks brown with a white breast. • What it eats A House sparrow eats grubs, beetles, insects because they are very naughty. They live here because they eat the food that is found here. • What it looks like it is black and apricot. It has got an orange neck and a black face. A Chaffinch is a big bird and it is 11cm tail. • What it eats A Chaffinch eats seeds and insects off the ground, and also eats bird cakes from the bird feeders. By Jon

Before Swallows migrate they fly about restlessly. • Where it lives The American Swallows spend the winter in South America while European ones head for Africa in winter. • What it looks like The male has a red face and a white breast.
