Nixon on March 5, 1969 • A federal agency dedicated exclusively to minority business enterprises, the impact of minority businesses on the nation’s economy and on the general welfare of the country is recognized • Business support for over 5.8 million minority-owned business

Judy Chu Sets Up:Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Pasadena City College (PCC) • Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) • Provide assistance to small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs • SBDCs are hosted certain agencies, funded in part through a partnership with Small Business Administration (SBA) • Free business consulting & low-cost training services including: • disaster recovery assistance • Procurement & contracting aid • market research help • healthcare guidance • business plan development • manufacturing assistance • financial packaging • lending assistance • exporting & importing support

Judy Chu Helps:Small Businesses Get Vital Investment Capital • March 18, 2014 • Commercial Real State & Economic Development (CREED) Act • Refinance existing commercial mortgages • Lower monthly payments • Place more capital back to small businesses • Counterpart to Senate’s CREED Act bill • Extends the 504 loan financing program for 5 years • In 2012, last year of the program, over 2,400 small businesses benefited from refinancing of over $2.2billion
