  3. Sections of pipe were pushed into the ground around individual plants.

  4. Pipe after being pushed into the ground.

  5. The pipe was attached to an excavator with chains.

  6. Bare plant and tap root that was separated from soil.

  7. The pipe containing the soil plug and plant was pulled out of the ground.

  8. Pipe containing the soil plug.

  9. The pipes were cut in half to allow the plug to be removed for transplanting.

  10. Plant and soil plug awaiting transplanting.

  11. Each plant and pipe was numbered to track for monitoring purposes.

  13. Plant and tap root that came loose from the soil. The plant is about 6” long and the root is about 18” long.

  14. The root is almost the same diameter as a thumb.
