  1. A Mighty Savior Luke 1:68-79

  2. We’ve all found ourselves weak. • “The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matt 26:41). • How weak have you been at times? • The message of the Gospel is that you & I are weak and sinful people. • “When we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly” (Rom 5:6). • No matter how hard we try, we could never save ourselves.

  3. Jesus is a mighty Savior!

  4. Luke 1:68-79

  5. “Visit” doesn’t mean to stop by on a social call. • “Visit” means to look after with the goal of helping. • “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction” (Js 1:27). • God has raised up a horn of salvation. • An animal’s strength is in its horns. • NRSV: “He has raised up a mighty savior for us in the house of his servant David.” • What a blessing to know that Jesus is a mighty Savior! • “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief” (1 Tim 1:15).

  6. Luke 1:68-79

  7. This text says that Jesus can forgive me of all my sins. • In Jesus, “we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (Eph 1:7). • Baptism is the point at which God forgives us of our sins. • “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38). • “Now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16).

  8. For those who are in Christ, the text says that we need to serve God “in holiness and righteousness.” • “We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Eph 2:10). • Let me urge you to find your talent & serve God faithfully with it. • “Unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability” (Matt 25:15). • What will you do with the talent God has given you? • “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matt 5:16).

  9. What service will you render this day?
