Course Content Accelerated Science • 1 year ahead • Curriculum is High School curriculum • Also known as IPC (Integrated Physics and Chemistry) • Will receive High School Credit • Preparing students for AP courses at the high school level • Topics • Intro to Chemistry (Semester I) • Intro to Physics (Semester II)
Digital Classroom • Our classroom is part of the GCISD Digital Classroom Pilot Project • Teaching and learning will look different • Some assignments will be different • Students need access to technology • Arrangements need to be made to complete assignments during Stampede and/or before/after school if not access at home • Communication and flexibility will be a key component for success
Journaling • Reflected in changes in the state curriculum • Research shows that students are better prepared and achieve higher on standardized tests • Journaling and reflection will be a large focus in science this year
Website • Please visit the class website for information • If you have not filled out the online Laboratory Safety Agreement, Technology User Agreement and Technology survey please do so NO LATER THAN FRIDAY
Communication • I will email a Weekly Newsletter on Thursday or Friday each week • Weekly lesson plans and homework on website as well • Will update on website if I make changes • Will also encorporateEdmodo and/or Project Share

STAAR Test • Wednesday, April 24, 2013 • Very important that your child is present • Benchmarks and tutorials in preparation
Calculators • It is not required to purchase a calculator for your student • Class sets are available for use at school • If you are considering purchasing, I would recommend the TI 84-Plus or the TI 84-Plus Silver Edition • Cost is around $120 • Please have them leave their personal calculator at home
