Masters (MA) in Higher Education • Programme Information • The MA in Higher Education is structured around key areas in third level education and enables participants to deepen their knowledge, develop their research skills and apply these skills to their educational interests and specialism. This programme is delivered part-time over 2 years so that participants can fit study around work and other commitments. • Programme Modules • Year 1: Learning Theories, Higher Education Policy, Writing and Disseminating Research, Negotiated Research Project, Research Methods. • Year 2: Through the completion of a thesis you will learn to develop and carry out educational research using traditional and emerging research designs informed by a critical awareness of developments at the forefront of policy and practice in Higher Education. • Admission guidelines • Entry to the MA in Higher Education is open to graduates who have achieved at least a 2.2 honours degree. • Module exemptions of up to 15 ECTS are available onto this programme. The programme also aims to facilitate participants in developing their chosen educational interests and specialisms in learning and teaching, and to develop a personal and professional capacity for critical self-reflection. The programme is part-time, and is structured into 2 modules. It involves attendance at class-based sessions for a half-day per week. • Programme Modules • The Diploma programme has two modules: • Professional Practice in Third Level Learning and Teaching (30 ECTS Credits) • Researching and Designing Curricula and Assessment Strategies (30 ECTS Credits) • The programme uses experiential learning as its pedagogic approach.
