Small intestine, Duodenum, Jejunum and Ileum The Small intestine is one of the major organs of the digestive system. It is divided into three parts: the Duodenum, The jejunum and the ileum. The duodenum is the part of the small intestine which is like the Stomach to the small intestine. As it is still in the small intestine, it’s structure is exactly the same as the other parts : villis and micro villis, small in diameter and about 25-38 cm long (which is very small). The jejunum is the next part of the small intestine. It is shaped in some very curly form and is around 2.5 m long and its inside is covered with villis and micro villis. Just after the jejunum comes the ileum. It is shaped like the other parts of the small intestine : very curly to cover more space area and its inside is covered with villis and micro villis. Its length is around 4 m which completes the total length of the small intestine : 6-7 m long. It is also the part the links the small intestine to the large intestine (Colon). Its function is to absorb nutrients like all other parts of the small intestine.
