Congratulations • 262abstracts submitted • 82oral presentations • 11 short oral presentations • 161posters presentations • Invited speakers from 7 different countries worldwide (the Netherlands, Croatia,Sweden, UK, Israel, Italy and Ireland). • 11 Key Note speakers • International Continuing Nursing Education Credits (ICNECs) – Conference accredited by the International Council of Nurses (ICN). 1 credit will be assigned for each 60 min spent within the session halls. Total of 18.5 credits can be accumulated.

Tips for successful chairing • Introduce the session and the speakers • Slow speakers down if necessary, but ensure session runs to allocated time (especially translated sessions) • Timing – Guest speakers variable 20 minutes, 10 minutes questions • All oral abstracts 10 minutes + 5 mins for questions • Make it clear before the session how you will indicate to the speaker if they are running over their allocated time • Prepare some questions, plan if you will have question time at the end of the session or after each speaker • Summarise the main learning points from the session and thank the speakers
Tips for successful chairing Before each session remind delegates: • Turn off mobile phones • Have barcode swiped on badge both entering and leaving a session to gain accreditation points • Translated sessions - Headphones – talking/volume Before questions: • Direct people to the fixed or roving microphones in each room to ask questions • Questions to be in English even in translated sessions • Delegates should state their name and country before asking a question
Poster marking • Two markers per team – 8 sessions • Poster marking form • Ilaria de Barbieri leading this • Bero Berislav now on board
Abstract marking • Team of 2 - Chief assessor and team co-ordinator • Specific themed categories (for example haemodialysis, transplantation, research and audit, quality management etc) • On average 10-15 abstracts • Each marker provided with a password to access an online marking database • Each marker scores the criteria for each abstract • Each marker enters the marks awarded for each abstract using the online marking system • Averaged final scores are sent to the Chief Assessors who then using a final selection criteria to identify whether an abstract should be accepted for oral, poster, short oral, or rejected dependent on the average scores allocated • Be careful how you award the marks. Very low scores should be justified. Full marks unusual
