  2. Are you planning to renovate your home with a touch of vintage? Plywood has evolved to the point where it is now the most popular choice among homeowners due to its vast variety. Marine plywood is one of the most solid woods in this category.

  3. What is marine plywood exactly? Also revered as marine grade plywood, marine plywood is typically a premium grade in plywood which can used for the construction of patio furniture, outdoor furniture, and also for the manufacturing of boats and ships.   Marine plywood can be found in the grades including A-A, A-B, B-B, Medium-density overlay (MDO) and High-density overlay (HDO).    Regular plywood cannot be devised for the making of boats, ships and patios as in the coastal regions, the salt and moisture content is high. Marine-grade plywood is the perfect alternative to traditional plywood as it cis boiling-water proof and highly water resistant. 

  4. Evolution of marine plywood- It all started in the 1930s, during the World War II era, when several ships and boats were used as part of the arsenal for conducting warfare. This provided an opportunity for a Dutch door manufacturer named 'Cornelius Bruynzeel,' who at the time launched boats made with veneer. It was his efforts and hard work that gave the world marine grade plywood, which is now used for a variety of applications. This type of wood has outlived its original purpose and is now used in a wide range of constructions and furniture manufacturing.

Features of Marine Plywood • The capacity to withstand contact with water while maintaining its structural integrity.  • Since, marine plywood is comprised of a particular phenolic plastic resin, the surface of the ply is waterproof and resistant to moisture because of the resin.  • It is actually possible to prevent water from penetrating through to the layers of wood, which is something that could lead to delamination in the case of regular plywood.  • In spite of the fact that hardwood sheet is what marine ply is made of, the fact that it is extremely flexible makes it a suitable material for use in the exteriors as well as the interiors and also in areas where there is a risk for contact with water. 

  6. Marine plywood – a quick fact It is manufactured with premium quality wood and nearly 10-12 layers of plies are used in the making process. Too much of care also goes along in the making of marine plywood which is why it is known for its waterproof properties.
