Maximizing confidence in the indicators PIRS and DQA
Performance Indicator Reference Sheets (PIRS) • Where the FtF indicators are fully defined and related to your project. • Say precisely what you will measure: what policies, what livestock, what crops… • Say precisely how you will measure the indicator: what survey method (sample frame, randomized selection, sample size…), what records are to be used • Identify any known lack of precision: not all farmers keep records equally… • Identify disaggregations (see the Handbook, plus any others you will use) • Identify targets: explain the evidence used to set the targets.
Data Quality Assessments (DQA) • DQA are required for all new indicators added. • DQA must be done at least once in three years. • DQA may be called for more often if indicators are wonky. • During the annual PPR, DQA may be requested. • DQA are meant to add confidence to your ability to measure the indicator. • Handout Guidelines for DQA
