  1. Goalkeeper Shot Saving Warm Up - Field players move in pairs with a ball and pass with instep to each other while keepers move and strike balls to each other. (Intersperse each part of the warm up with Dynamic Stretches). - Keepers play in a goal each 50 yards apart (Diagram A). Field players (still in pairs) pass and move in area until GK calls them -- then they must make a move and shoot from their area of the field (**demand that shot on target--or else they chase). Vary by shooter moving around lateral target cones. - Now, when called to, the field player must pass to partner and they attempt to shoot quickly (1/2touch)

  2. Pts.: Look for: GK starting stance (balance, hand position, feet parallel, etc), GK adjustment to shooters movement and passing, anddiving form ( forward, lead arm, etc.)

  3. Small Sided Activity;-3 v3 (-1) in same area as warm up FPs are on for 1-2 min. sets or can sub on own when ball is out . Players must chase missed shots and their team plays short (creates 3v2s, etc.)- Could vary adding 1 or 2 "Jokers"

  4. Expanded SS • -Play 5v5 in 55 x 44 yard area with "double off-sides lines (add Jokers to vary). Score 1 pt for every shot on goal and 3 for a goal. GKs add 1pt for any save and 3 for holding a shot). • Pts. Above plus: coming for through balls/ being in position for shot, longer distribution choices • Game • Play 7 v 7 in 60 x 50 yard field with a central off side line. • Pts. Above plus: starting position off line, and helping players stay "on task" during attack. GK Shot Saving (Cont.)
