  2. Carbohydrates • Types: Simple and starches • Produce simple sugars • Simple sugars make insulin • Insulin lets your carbs work in you body • Supply energy • Sources: • Grains, vegetables, fruits, etc.

  3. Fats • Types: unsaturated, saturated, and trans fats • Fats: Someone weighs 150 pounds has 10% body fat. • Helps body digest vitamins • Provides blood sugar supplies • Sources: • Spreads, processed, frozen and packaged foods.

  4. Proteins • Types: Complete and Incomplete. • Builds and maintains body muscles and tissues. • Digestive systems breaks proteins into amino acids. • Sources: Diary, meats, green leaf vegetables, and soy.

  5. Fiber • Types:Soluble and Insoluble • Humans should aim for 25g-38g of fiber per day. • Reduces risk of colon cancer, lower levels of cholesterol. • Enhances weight loss. • Can help diabetes • Sources: Dried fruit, Vegetables, Oats.

  6. Vitamins • Types: Fat soluble and water soluble • All foods contain different vitamins • Grow and develop properly • Balanced vitamins equals Healthy living • Other types: Vitamin, D, A, C, E etc. • Sources: Diary, leafy greens, fruits, sunshine etc.

  7. Minerals • Types: Macro and Micro/ Trace • Sustain oxygen in body • Contain: Teeth, bones, muscle, tissues and nerve cells • Turns food into energy • Sources: Dried fruits, beans, nuts etc.

  8. Water • Makes up more then half your weight • Blood contains lots of water • All cells depend on water • Water helps fight illness, in your immune system • Sources: Fruits, vegetables, meat, other liquids, etc.
