Pretest • Three sections • Section 1-Knowledge and Attitude • Section 2-Knowledge • Section 3-Behavior
Pretest-First Section Students were already fairly knowledgeable. Students responded correctly to 4 questions. For remaining questions had discrepancies.
Pretest-Second Section Pretest called for three different types. 78 possible answers-some students gave more than 3. Most common Verbal Physical
All types were mentioned by a majority of the students. Mental mentioned-prior knowledge. Online bullying mentioned more than electronic bullying.
Pretest-Third Section • Behavior Based • Scenarios-students had to respond with what they would do • Showed they have knowledge of coping strategies • 20 used the strategy of “tell”
What Did I Learn? • Good knowledge base on types of bullying • Clarify the different types during lesson • Focus more on attitudes throughout lesson • Every aspect of lesson
Performance Based Assessment • Completed at the end of the lesson • Poster • Types of bullying-select 3 types • Feelings for each behavior • Rubric was provided with criteria
What does this mean? • Most point lost- Content-feelings • Confusion with what was expected • Rubric should have clarified • Students did not look at rubric • Grammar area • Creativity-Very Good
Post-Test • Same day due to time constraints • Section 1-Knowledge & Attitude • Agree/disagree with statements • Section 2-Behavior • Respond what best describes their behavior • Section 3-Knowledge • Types and examples of ways people bully
Post-test Section 1 Question: “Pushing a person is a type of verbal bullying.” Pretest-3 did not know Post-test-8 did not know Reason???? The way the question was asked. Could have been a trick question.
Post-test Section 2 • Pretest question • What would you do if a friend told you they received a mean text? • Post-test question • In the future will you send mean texts?
Students who would tell an adult 4 out of 5 Pretest-students would tell an adult Post-test-contradict themselves on their behavior by saying they would send mean texts themselves
Post-test Section 3 Students were asked to give examples of each type of bullying.
Conclusion • Pretest-know where the students are • Reassess lesson • Modify lesson • Journal on the handout for each section
What does this mean? • Students are definitely experiencing bullying electronically and online • Participating in Bullying and do not realize
Results • During Class-6 students sent mean texts • Post-test-5 students may send mean texts • One person may change behavior because of lesson
