  2. 1 – Foreign trade:The unique source is the SISCOMEX System (*), integrated by SECEX, CUSTOMS and CENTRAL BANK. All export and import registers are eletronic (100%). (*) SISCOMEX: electronic system incorporating the tracking and administrative, custom and exchange control of foreign trade. SOURCES OF BRAZILIAN FOREIGN TRADE STATISTICAL DATABASE a) Data sources -Customs Data, Enterprise/Business, Register, other sources (Surveys) 2 – Business information: On the Ministry of Finance are colected all commercial information in the moment of companies register and is atributed a National Code for companies (CNPJ) and for individuals (CPF).

  3. 1 – Economic activity:National code of economic activity (CNAE) is stablished by the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geoghafic and Statistics) and Minitry of Finance. There are two groups: Industrial and Commerce and Services. SOURCES OF BRAZILIAN FOREIGN TRADE STATISTICAL DATABASE a) Data sources -Customs Data, Enterprise/Business, Register, other sources (Surveys) 2 – Number of employes: RAIS – Annual list of social information (Ministry of Labor) . This information agregated with the exports of the company is used to define the size of the company .

SOURCES OF BRAZILIAN FOREIGN TRADE STATISTICAL DATABASE a) Data sources -Customs Data, Enterprise/Business, Register, other sources (Surveys) Identification Code: The CNPJ or CPF is mandatory field in the record of exports and imports. It’s not possible register the operation without one of these codes. CNPJ: It’s formed by 14 digits: the first 8 represent the company group; the 4 following digitsrepresent the filial and the last 2 digits are to validate the complete number (12). 00.000.000/0000-00 Verification digits Identify the establishment Identify the company (Group) CPF: It’s formed by 11 digits: the first 9 represent the individual code and the last 2 are verification digits (00.000.000-00).

  5. 1 – SISCOMEX: When the company imput its code, the SISCOMEX made the access automatcally the base of Companies Registers on the Ministery of Finance, where the code is confirmed (CNPJ) and transfer all commercial informations (complete adress, city, State and CNAE, etc.). Information complementar like contact, e-mail and website is imputed by the company. After this moment, all foreign trade data are on the same database. SOURCES OF BRAZILIAN FOREIGN TRADE STATISTICAL DATABASE (c) The list of variables which you maintain in your trade by enterprise database Enterprise database: The variables dispoibles are the CNPJ or CPF, complete adress, CNAE, size and, when disponible (it’s not mandatory), the contact name, telephone, e-mail and website. Other: The CNPJ and the CPF are on the statistic database too, where we have others variables like produts, coutries, States, ports, blocks, etc.

The quality assurance of information is done through the mach of the data entered by the exporters and importers in Brazil, with data from the CNPJ/CPF registered by the company when the start of its activities. Additional information such as e-mail, contact, web page, are not validated, crediting the information to the operator QUALITY ASSURANCE PROCEDURES (d) Brief overview of your quality assurance procedures

  11. 7 - Exports by company size based on criteria of MERCOSUR (annual) 7.1 – Value (US$ FOB) and number of companies by size and economic activity 7.2 - Value (US$ FOB) and number of companies by size and state producing state 7.3 - Value (US$ FOB) and number of companies by size and main districts 7.4 - Value (US$ FOB) and number of companies by size and main products 7.5 - Value (US$ FOB) and number of companies by size and NCM chapters 7.6 - Value (US$ FOB) and number of companies by size and country of destination 7.7 - Value (US$ FOB) and number of companies by size and economic blocs of destination 7.8 - Value (US$ FOB) and number of companies by size and port of loading 7.9 - Value (US$ FOB) and number of companies by size and via of transport DISSEMINATION REPORTS (e)  Examples of reports and data that you disseminate (trade by industry, employment and region)

  15. BUSINESS SIZE: ONLY FOR DATA EXPORT • The criteria adopted is established for the MERCOSUR • Resolutions GMC Nº. 90/93 and 59/98

  16. concentration of trade (top five enterprises, top 10, …) number of companies and value of trade according to number of partner countries; number of companies and value of trade by partner zone (continents); number of companies and value of trade by aggregate factor number of companies and value of trade by technological intensity; all reports using ISIC sectors (A, B, …Q) or 2 digits (01, 02, 03, …99) => economic activities more detailed It’s possible to produce reports involving enterprise with all variables available on the Statistic database (look the confidenciality) DISSEMINATION REPORTS – OTHER POSSIBILITIES

  17. Public data => availble to general public in publications, reports and online system (ALICEWEB http://aliceweb.mdic.gov.br) with detail data of product, value, quantity, average price, country of origin and destination, economic bloc, state, port of loading and unloading and mode of transport (free access). Confidential data => For the company itself, are given all their information, if requested by the legal representative of the company. =>For government officials, the access to the databases are restricted to users wicht require the evidentiary details of the companies to fulfill their activities. LEVELS OF ACCESS TO THE DATABASE (f)  Are there different levels of access to the database (Ministry users, Researchers, General public)?

  18. DATA STORED: Servers with controlled access (only staff) ON LINE ACCESS AND PRINTED REPORTS: Permissions are given after signing a term of responsibility CONFIDENTIALITY PROTECTION (g) How do you protect confidentiality?
