  1. #35 Warm UP Give an example of two body systems that work together to perform a function in the body Look at your notes from last lesson!

  2. How do systems of the body work together? • Maintaining homeostasis means keeping everything balanced even when changes take place • EXAMPLE: What happens when we exercise and use our muscles at a rapid rate?

  3. How do materials move between systems? • Move through the bloodstream • Diffuse in and out of cells (some need active transport) • Nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, salts

  4. How do cells communicate? • Hormones and other messages attach to receptors on the cell surface • Specific shape! • Nerve cells send electrical and chemical signals to and from brain

  5. Activity – Body System Coordination • Examine the Regents Question • Develop an answer together and put in on your easel • Be sure to write it in on your task sheet. • When the other groups are presenting, write other possible combinations on your sheet. Extension: Try answering the question using other body systems Check that the Body Systems Practice is done for tomorrow Log on to Study Island to try the Body Systems assignment

  6. Summary Let’s review all of the possible answers to the Regents CRQ Be sure to write down other groups’ answers if they are different from yours.
