  6. Homework Guidelines • Roughly 15 minutes/night per subject (when assigned) • Workbook exercises • Readings • Essays/compositions • Take-home quizzes • Long-term projects

  7. Homework, cont’d. • Long-term projects are chunked for all students • No surprise or “pop” quizzes- advance notice is always given • Homework board is used to help model planning for students • Extra copies of worksheets/rubrics are available on my website and HAC

  8. Grading Policy • Five categories • Homework x1 • Quizzes, Tests, Essays x2 • Long-term Projects x3 • All categories balanced in final average calculations • Homework assignments are graded as quickly as possible • HAC up-to-date within a week

Educational Strategies • Differentiated Instruction- approach lessons in a variety of ways to ensure all students can learn • Cooperative Learning- students are grouped and work together to accomplish a common objective • Direct Instruction- lesson objectives are clearly labeled at the outset and are checked off as they are accomplished
