Brightspark Tours • All payments and questions regarding payments should be made to Brightspark. • www.brightsparktravel.com • Cost is $569 for deposits before 10-7 • Cost is $594 for deposits 10-7 or after • RGP is $55 • T-Shirts - $13 (total for three) payable to Northside. Note, this is a separate payment from the trip. Northside Middle School

Student Safety and Supervision • Primary objectives of the trip: • 1st and foremost is student safety • Fun and enjoyable experience • Educational experience • One chaperone per 15 students and a nurse to help with medical emergencies • Emergency contact information • All medications must be handled by staff Northside Middle School

  7. Travel Procedures • Luxury charter buses • Professional Driving Team in Washington D.C. • Restroom Equipped • DVD’s brought by chaperones • There are no power hook-ups for the students. They must use battery operated devices. Northside Middle School

  9. Travel Procedures (con’t.) • Students are assigned to a bus based upon room assignments. • Boys and girls may sit together until 10:00 P.M. Then we establish a boy’s half and a girl’s half of the bus. • Students may not change buses during the trip. Northside Middle School

  11. DOUBLETREE HOTEL-CRYSTAL CITY Washington D. C. • Four students per room • Two students per bed • Students are not allowed in rooms of the opposite gender. • Hotel security guards at night so chaperones may rest. • Students are secured in rooms and doors are marked with tape to indicate if opened. Itinerary • Vouchers and time provided for 3 meals/day • Most lunches are food courts • Breakfast is at the hotel • Events are sometimes re-arranged to enhance the travel experience. • Smithsonian Institute • Potomac Riverboat Dinner Cruise- This is the only time they will not wear DC T-shirts. • Travel overnight both going to and coming home from Washington D.C. Logistical Information • Buses will depart Northside Middle School at 6:00 p.m. • Buses will return to Northside Middle School on Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. Please plan on being at the school to pick up your child.   21. T-Shirts • The Tony London Company has made it affordable to provide each student on the trip with a souvenir t-shirt for each day. (Thurs-Sat.) • These shirts are provided as an extra measure of security and safety for the students. • Students are expected to wear the shirts while we are traveling as a group in the city. We do not negotiate on these terms. • The cost of the shirts is $13 (for all three) and should be paid to the Northside Main Office by May 1. Northside Middle School

  23. Fundraising/Scholarship • The most reliable method of paying is through your own initiative. • Possibly but not guaranteed: Baby Back Blues, Courtyard workers, another Trash to Treasure Sale, Duck Sales Northside Middle School

DC Ducks • May take up to 10 tickets at a time from us • Sell for $5, get $4 toward DC trip • Bring in money periodically • Last Name: • A-D = Anthony • E-J = Schwenk • K-R = Lax • S-Z = Boezeman • Be sure to put check # on ticket • All duck money due 9/23 – no exceptions! • MUST PAY YOUR OWN DEPOSIT! • If student doesn’t go, money goes into DC fund to help others Northside Middle School

  25. This may be the first time your child will travel without your direct supervision. The chaperones will protect and guard your child’s safety and provide a meaningful and enjoyable travel experience.They will be treated as if they are our own children.
