  2. Aim • Present patient with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and nocturnal bruxism who was treated with botulinum toxin injection. • Relevance • Bruxism: • Involuntary tooth grinding. • Can occur as TBI complication. • If untreated, can lead to severe occlusal trauma.

  3. Method • Patient: • 21 yr old male with TBI due to car accident. • Coma for 2 wk in intensive care unit. • Complained of severe teeth grinding at night beginning 2 mo postinjury. • Treatment: • Botulinum toxin-A was injected into masseter muscles (20 U each) and temporalis muscles (15 U each) bilaterally.

  4. Results • Decreased bruxism was reported within 3 d. • Clinical improvement persisted at assessment 4 mo posttreatment.

  5. Conclusion • Botulinum toxin injection is an effective treatment for bruxism associated with TBI.
