is the collection of all the traces you leave in electronic environments as you use or move through them. Some is content you actively volunteer—like your Facebook profile. Other material is passive—the cookies a site stores in your browser, the content your district collects about your use of their technology, etc. All this data can be aggregated to build a profile of YOU and YOUR BEHAVIOR. http://www.educatorstechnology.com/2013/04/a-great-guide-on-teaching-students.html
Survival kit Padlock • The padlock is to remind students to set strong passwords and to set up passcode locks on all of their digital devices. Toothbrush • Tell students to think that passwords and toothbrushes are very similar in the fact that you NEVER want to share passwords. (except with parents) Permanent Marker • Everything that you put online is permanent....even if you hit the delete button after posting. Odds are someone has re-tweeted, favorited, or taken a screenshot of the material. Toothpaste • Imagine the information that you are putting online is like the toothpaste coming out of the tube. Once it is out, it is almost impossible to get it all back in the tube! http://comfortably20.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-digital-citizenship-survival-kit.html?m=1
Preventing Fleas in a bottle Have the discussion with your students: • If we were to look you up online what would we learn about you ? • Is there anything online that you wouldn't want your teacher or parent to know about you ? What are your digital footprints?

Flamebait • An email or post written with intent to offend\anger\enrage other people, so that they will send a flaming response. Many times people will “troll” to provoke a negative response. King3aper: Starcraft II is going to suck. It is going to be the same thing as Starcraft I with new graphics. You're all losers.(Here, King3aper, being the 'troll', is purposely provoking an angry or negative response from offended Starcraftfans. Flame Baiting)(offended fan)STRCFTFAN1337: GO SCRWE URSELF STARCRAFT IS AWESOME!
