  2. INTRODUCTION • Water is the fountain head of life. • For the development of human societies, water should be available in the acceptable quantity and quality.

  3. NEED • In city everybody uses packaged drinking water. • To compare packaged drinking water requirement of Urban and Rural people.

  4. METHODOLOGY • Survey in Varthur village - 22kms away from the city. • Analysis of water samples from bore well and public taps.

  5. Data collected • Out of 72 houses, 43 houses use packaged water. • 10 houses are using aqua guard.

  6. Hypotheses • People in Varthur prefer packaged drinking water because tap water is hard and contaminated.

  8. DATA ANALYSIS • Water is hard • High concentration of Sodium and Chloride • Bore well sample shows high concentration of Calcium and Phosphate

  9. RESULT • Proved villagers’ statement

  10. CONCLUSION • Drinking water treatment plant to be established. • Water sources should be protected.
