Explanation… • In your groups, prepare SIMON’S EXPLANATION for why he cut the rope. • Use the explanation table mat and identify the features of an explanation. • Use only the known facts and plan your explanations. • Chose a SIMON in each group and consider questions and answers that he might have had to face when he returned to “civilisation”. We might throw this open to the class as a whole.
What points arise? • How does this look to an outsider? • Is there any hint of attempted murder? • Self defence? • Part of the acceptable risk of climbing mountains?
