Great is Our Faithfulness Galatians 5:22; Psalm 78:3-8
God is the model of faithfulness. • Psalm 145:13 • “Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, • and your dominion endures • through all generations. • The Lord is faithful to all his promises • and loving toward all he has made.”
God is the model of faithfulness. • Psalm 146:5-6 • Blessed is he whose help • is the God of Jacob, • whose hope is in the Lord his God, • 6 the Maker of heaven and earth, • the sea, and everything in them — • the Lord, who remains faithful forever.
Sour Worms • We live in a fickle culture. • Psalm 12:1-2 • Help, Lord, for the godly are no more; • the faithful have vanished from among men. • Everyone lies to his neighbor; • their flattering lips speak with deception.
Sour Worms • We live in a fickle culture. • Life challenges faithfulness. • Faithlessness is a lack integrity.
“if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13
Cultivating Faithfulness • Is always an action. • Principle of increasing responsibility.
Matthew 25:22-23 • The man with the two talents also came. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.' 23 "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
Cultivating Faithfulness • Is always an action. • Principle of increasing responsibility. • Will be rewarded by God.
“Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.” • Revelation 2:10
Low Hanging Fruit • To worship and honor God. • To our closest relationships. • Generational faithfulness.
Judges 2:10-11 • “After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. 11 Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord . . .”
Psalm 78:3-8 • “what we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us. 4 We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. 5 He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our forefathers to teach their children,
Psalm 78:3-8 • 6 so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. 7 Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. 8 They would not be like their forefathers — a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.”
