Retention of Freshmen Graduation rate is lower than “target” Graduation rate is expected to decline in the near future Graduation rate might be expected to increase in the more distant future (as more college- ready freshmen enter) First-year attrition is due in large part to disenrollment of unremediated students The most effective retention efforts will be those that focus on academic support for students in meeting remediation requirements

    37. Retention is only an indicator. The goal is to support all students in reaching their educational goals and to provide them with a good college experience. Retention is just one of many indicators we use to monitor our performance.
