Norte Region The Northern Region (Região Norte) is a Portuguese region whichincludes:Districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Vila Real and BragançaPart of the districts of Aveiro, Viseu and Guarda.Major citiesare:Porto, Gaia, Braga.
Norte region Porto is the capital of Norte region.The city has about 1.8 million habitants making it the second largest city in the country after Lisbon.
Porto Porto is known for the Portowine, its monuments and its bridges on Douro.
Climate City has a Meditterraneanclimate with influences of charasteristicoceanicclimate (wet and softwinters and dry and warmsummers). Maximum recordedtemperatureis +40oC and minimum is -5oC.

Monuments Praça de Liberdade – heart of the city with monument depicting PeterIV Portuguese.
Monuments Towering on the western side of the square Praça da Liberdade church and famous tower Igreja e Torre dos Clérigos. They were made by italian architect NicolauNasoni. Church was one of the first baroc churches built in Portugal.

Monuments The LuísBridgeis a metal arch bridge that spans the Douro River between the cities of Porto andVila Nova de Gaia. At the time of construction its span of 172 m was the longest of its type in the world.

Cuisine Caldoverde (green soup) is traditional cabbage soup which is eaten mostly in northest part of the country but also in all Portugal. It’s thick and green, made from cabbage leafs cutted in very thin slices. In north it’s served with slices of sausage (chouriço) and bread (broa). You can eat it as a starter or dinner.
Cuisine Feijoada consists of black beans ( feijaumeans bean in Portugese),rice and beef. It is often servedon Wednesdays and Saturdays whenever there is a chance for a family gathering or meeting with friends.
Cuisine Francesinha -typical sandwich form regions of Porto. In april 2011, it won the contest for the best sandwich, organised by AOL Organisation.
Wine The Vinho Verdeis a wine from the region Minho. His namerefers to the freshness of hisyouth and to hiscolour as well, becausethisappellationproduce red, white and somerosewines. Usuallyyoushould drink thiswinewhenitisfresh.
