Portable Marine Electrician Training Program • Five Regional Community Colleges • Model formed with partner - Huntington Ingalls Industries- Newport News Shipbuilding • Goal: 48 Trained and Hired Marine Electricians by July, 2012 • SMART’s Role: • Acted as catalyst and innovator in bringing the partners to the table • Own/schedule/maintain/rotate Portable Training “Conex”/ Trailer • Provide and fund the Train-the-Trainer instruction and pay instructor stipends for on-site instructor training • Track and report enrollment data
PLC Suitcase/Internet Training Program • AMSEC, Industry partner requests replicable PLC Training at West Coast facility • SMART’s Role: • Provide structured maritime skills training lab • Webinar -based dynamic presentation • SMART packages and sends “suitcase trainer” for portable ,structured onsite lab
