  1. Voluntary System of Accountability Faculty Senate Wright State University January 7, 2008

  2. Included among the Actions Steps for the University System of Ohio All four-year universities will adopt the Voluntary System of Accountability, a national effort for making colleges’ data consumer-friendly for college-bound families.

  3. Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA)developed byAmerican Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU)andNational Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC)

  4. VSA • Developed in response to national calls for accountability and transparency (e.g., Spellings Commission) • Developed by over 80 representatives from 70 public four-year institutions • Endorsed by regional accrediting agencies • Drawn largely from data already being gathered and reported by most institutions

  5. VSA is designed to help institutions meet the following objectives: • Demonstrate accountability and stewardship to public • Measure educational outcomes to identify effective educational practices • Assemble information that is accessible, understandable, and comparable www.voluntarysystem.org

  6. VSA communicates information on the undergraduate student experience through a common web reporting template, the College Portrait.

Student Experiences & Perceptions (page 4) • Institutional Evaluations of Campus Life • Results of National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), College Senior Survey (CSS), University of California Undergraduate Experience Survey (UCUES), or College Student Experiences Questionnaire (CSEQ)

  9. III. Student Learning Outcomes(page 5) • Institutional Evaluations of Student Learning • Results of Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP), Measure of Academic Proficiency and Progress (MAPP), or Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA) Exams
