Wow Monday was here! The Year 5’s were ready to go on the best camp ever! It was a week full of hiking to Ngamoko and smelly smoky fires. It was all so exhausting. It was an adventurous, spectacular camp.
Monday After a long journey we finally got to Camp Kaitawa. We unpacked our bags and got ready for a walk to the lake. We walked to the lake . It was Wow! The lake was amazing. After that we went for a walk up the pipeline. Boy that was tiring! After that we went to bed at 9:00.
Tuesday After a long sleep we woke, got changed and had breakfast. Then we got our back packs packed with a raincoat, warm hat, 2 drink bottles and some lunch. We all had warm clothes on ready for our walk ahead. When we got there we waited until everyone was there. Finally we started our 7 hour walk. We got to the steep part. There were wonderful views. Finally we got to camp and went to sleep at 9:00.
Wednesday On Wednesday we woke up, had breakfast and got changed. Then some of us some of us went in the mini bus and the others stayed behind and wrote Prayers. After that we got ready to walk to Lake Waikareiti. Finally we got to Waikareiti. We started walking and got to a 1000 year old tree. It was humungous. We stopped and had a look at this tree. It was the biggest tree I had ever seen!! After that we walked back and did the loop track. Then we went to camp and again went to bed at 9:00.
Thursday On Thursday we went caving. It was so much fun!! We were slip, sliding and having fun in the mud. We went through 8 dark mysterious caves, which we had to crawl on our hands and knees. After that we drove to the Redoubt, had lunch, played a game of rugby and formed a human pyramid. It didn’t work at first but then we got the men to go on the bottom and Samantha on the top. After that we went back to camp, got ingredients ready for the cookout and went to this piece of grass and started our cookout. We got to eat our own Nachos that we made. After that we played paper scissors rock, it was so much fun. Then we went to bed.
Friday On Friday we packed and cleaned our dorms. Then we walked over to this piece of grass where we played three games, one game of stuck in the mud and two games of seaweed. Then we stopped at Wairoa where we had lunch. After that we went back to Napier, the feeling of almost being home!! We were home. That was the best camp ever!!!
