National Issues: Interstate Enforcement of Protection Orders Full Faith and Credit Provision Act of the 1994 Violence Against Women Act Every temporary or final injunction, protective order, or restraining order properly issued by a State or tribal court must be given full faith and credit by the court of another State or tribe and enforced as if it were the order of the enforcing State or tribe.

Regional Efforts:Beginnings“Project Passport” • Objective: To improve recognition and enforcement of orders of protection within and between states/tribes by encouraging states to adopt a recognizable first page for orders of protection • Creation of Model Template for first page
Why a “Model Template?” • Commonly agreed upon data elements • Recognized across jurisdictions • Identifies Federal gun law prohibitions • Facilitates enforcement in the field • Product of multi-disciplinary consensus • Flexible to state statutory requirements

1. Over 2/3 of the country being introduced to the use of recognizable regionally-accepted first page paper form based on the Model Template. 2.
