PRIMARY FUNCTION • Support the Master of Science Engineering Science (Mechanical Engineering) Program
TARGET POPULATION • All Nuclear Trained Officers (surface and submarine) ashore and afloat • Initially PACNORWEST; now expanded to Navy wide
MEDIA INITIATIVES • Individual letters to all nuclear trained officers • Local and Navy news releases (newspaper and internet web sites) • Group and individual presentations
ELIGIBILITY REQUIRMENTS • OFFICERS ARE GRANTED 28 ½ CREDITS FOR NUC SCOL • PROGRAM INVOLVES 6 COURSES AND A TERM PAPER • OFFICERS GET 6 MONTHS TO COMPLETE EACH COURSE • ALL TUITION, BOOKS ETC. ARE FULLY FUNDED
ELIGIBILITY REQUIRMENTS CONT. • OFFICERS INCUR A 36 MONTHS OBLIGATION UPON COMPLETION OR WITHDRAWAL (NAVADMIN 195/07) • OBLIGATED SERVICE RUNS CONCURRENT WITH NOIP AND DOES NOT IMPACT ON SIGNING FOR BONUS
CURRENT STUDENTS • Fifty three students currently in class (submarine and surface nuclear trained officers) • Several additional students in processing
PRESENTATION METHODS • Video Tele-Education (Blackboard, Illuminate) • Off line utilizing DVD, textbooks, and written course material
ON GOING INITIATIVES • Individual letters to all officers by area PacNorWest Mid Atlantic Northeast Southeast Southwest WestPac • Navy and local newspaper releases • Navy internet web releases • Detailer news letters
