She is currently an attending surgeon in the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles. She graduated with her Bachelors Degree in Biological Sciences from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, one of the top-notch medical schools which has clinical affiliations with thousands of researchers and doctors all over the world. She has presented her research on both national and international levels. She has also co-authored articles and book chapters on fecal incontinence, treatment of rectal prolapse and ano-rectal fistulae.
After completing her medical degree, Dr. Mari Madsen completed her general surgery residency at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She then completed her fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida. Both these hospitals rank among the best American Hospitals. She has expertise in performing abdominal surgery on the small and large intestines and minor outpatient anorectal surgeries along with colonoscopies. She has been promoting the idea of minimally invasive surgery with the help of robot in Los Angeles, California. She is also a proponent of removing rectal lesions with TAMIS platform which can reduce the requirement of an abdominal surgery. Her patients find her very caring, kind, and compassionate.
