From 1978-1998, Patrick Burns ran his own private practice. Patrick Burns joined the DMCJA Legislative Committee in 1997.In 1998, he was elected as a presiding judge for the Auburn Municipal Court.Patrick Burns has also been serving as a DMCJA Salary and Benefits Committee Chair for 2002-04 and 2007-2012.As being an committee incharge, he became intensively involved with mental health court, drug court, veterans court etc and alternatives to jails to help those affected.Currently, he is a pro tem Judicial Officer at the Kent and Kirkland Municipal Courts.

When elected as a presiding judge for the Auburn Municipal Court, Patrick Burns Judge entered the judicial system in 1998, and hit the ground running. He was elected owing to his mastery of law, practical experience as a successful attorney, and reliability to serve as a responsible and unbiased judge. He joined the DMCJA Legislative Committee in 1997. The committee works with the Judges and Court Associations to monitor legislation as directed by the Executive Board. In addition to serving as a judge, he has also been serving as a DMCJA Salary and Benefits Committee Chair for 2002-04 and 2007-2012.
Patrick Burns Auburn WA has been involved with many aspects of DMCJA and has played an instrumental role in their works. He has been in charge of organizing and a DMCJA Spring Conference Faculty in the year 2002, 2006, and 2007. As the DMCJA Therapeutic Court Committee Chair in 2012, he became intensively involved with mental health court, drug court, veterans court etc and alternatives to jails to help those affected. Patrick has also been involved in research projects including The Substance Abuse Providers Standards Project and the Inter-jurisdictional Warrant Quashing Project in the year 2006 and 2007 respectively. His dedication to the projects was appreciated by all who were involved or came in contact with the projects.
Working currently as a pro tem Judicial Officer at the Kent and Kirkland Municipal Courts, Judge Patrick Burns Auburn is a responsible representative of the law. He is very successful and good at what he does, owing to over 30 years of substantial experience in the legal and judicial systems. He began his career in 1978 with his own private practice focusing on civil litigation, criminal defense, and family law. He ran a very successful and thriving practice in Auburn for twenty years until 1998. Following this he served as a judge for over a decade.
In his free time, Patrick Burns is an avid ballroom dancer, reader, hiker, traveler, and swimmer.
