  1. Common features in all strands of the KS3 Strategy Structured lessons draw pupils in from the start. Active and engaging tasks which encourage all pupils to participate. Teaching and learning strategies that are active and oral.

An emphasis on short-term planning includes planning for input and support from other adults in the classroom to ensure learning opportunities are maximised. • Subject-specific language skills and conventions of particular forms of writing are made explicit and demonstrated by the teacher. • Planned opportunities for oral rehearsal in pairs and small groups. • A requirement that all pupils apply learning, supported by group work, before moving to independent activity.
