What is a parasite? • A parasite is a creature living in or on another creature and drawing its food directly from it. • The parasite that I am about to show you are all invertebrates.
Cymothoaexigua • Cymothoaexigua, otherwise known as the tongue eating louse. • Cymothoaexiguaeat fishes tongues and takes the tongues place. • When the fish eats the parasite takes some of the fishes food.
Hookworms • Hookworms eat things in their host’s gut [Humans can be hosts too]. • Doctors use hookworms to cure some diseases such as colitis. • This means doctors could give you hookworms to eat!
Botfly • A botfly lays its eggs in the skin of the cow. • The egg hatches into a larva which eats its host to grow. • When the botfly is fully grown it eats its way out.
Conclusion • I have shown you some parasites but there are many more. • There is a parasite for every animal.ss
