  2. What are environmental rights? “The right to a healthy environment” is the simple yet powerful idea that everyone should have the right to breathe fresh air and drink clean water.

A Federal Environmental Bill of Rights would: • strengthen Canada’s legal framework for protecting the environment • recognize that all people have a right to a healthy environment • improve public participation in environmental decision making, access to information, and access to the courts
