  12. Homework • I will assign homework on Mondays in a Red Homework Folder. Your child will have the week to complete the activities inside the folder. The homework and the Homework Folder should be returned every Friday (unless stated otherwise). Homework is a review of skills/concepts taught and should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. • Homework for the first few weeks of school will be to read each evening for 15-20 minutes and practice identifying and spelling the Quarter 1 Sight Words (these are found on the Second Grade KWC website). 13. Birthdays • We will celebrate birthdays in the classroom. If you choose to celebrate your child’s birthday, you may bring in a treat for each student, but please, NO EDIBLE TREATS. • You may also choose to donate an item to our class. You may wrap up a game or item for recess (age appropriate). Your child may then “open” the gift in front of the class. • Our class would truly appreciate any activity/item you would like to donate. Back to School Night 2017-2018

  14. SNACK • If you are sending in a snack, please make sure your child knows what his/her designated snack (especially if the snack is in his/her lunchbox) is for the day; the students choose one small snack to eat, as this is a quick snack in the morning. • Also, please do not send in juice/Capri Sun/milk, etc. for snack (those spills are very sticky and take time to clean up). • Water bottles may be sent in to use for the day, and we also have a water fountain in our classroom for your child to use. Back to School Night 2017-2018

  15. Lunch • Please practice your child’s lunch number and birth date password with your child. • Our lunch is from 12:15-12:45. • If you have any time and would like to join us for lunch, please send a note with your child so we may let the cafeteria staff know, or you may call the cafeteria to let them know you are planning to eat. • If you are sending in your child’s lunch money, PLEASE place the payment in an envelope with your child’s name and Student ID number on the outside and label the envelope LUNCH MONEY. I will send your payment to the cafeteria in the morning with our lunch count. Back to School Night 2017-2018

Book Orders • If you plan to purchase any items from the book order flyers (no pressure), please fill in the order form with your child’s name at the top, tally the form, and send in a check (if possible) made out to Scholastic Book Clubs or cash for payment. • Please place the order form and payment in an envelope labeled with your child’s name and BOOK ORDER on the front. • You may also choose to use our online ordering process; this information will be sent home with the first book order. This is an easy way, and there are MANY more choices online (again, no pressure). Back to School Night 2017-2018
