  1. Instructions to Download and Install McAfee Internet Security on Mac

  2. Before installing McAfee Internet Security on your Mac, make sure that there aren’t any existing McAfee files or software. If there are any, rename them as they may hinder the activation process resulting in failed activation or wrong product installation. These files can be found in the Downloads folder.

  3. After successful download and installation by following the below-mentioned steps, if you can want to activate the product using a product key, go to www.mcafee.com/activate key. Now go through the instructions below to install it on your Mac-

Downloading- • Visit McAfee official website and sign in to your account. • Enter correct account credentials and click Log In. • Under the My Apps tab, choose McAfee Internet Security as your product. • You will see ‘Protect all your devices’. In this section, click Download. • Continue with the process by accepting the License Agreement.

  5. Here you will spot a serial number under the Download button. Note it down for future reference. Note: The serial number is valid for only 2 hours. So if you exceed this time limit, you need to generate it again when required. • Select Download on the screen and save the file in a familiar location on your computer. If not, the file will be saved to the default Downloads folder.

  6. Installing- • Look for the folder where you had saved the setup file. • Double click on this file to run the setup. • Close all web browsers to make sure that the McAfee browser plug-in installs successfully. • After clicking on the setup file, you will be asked to enter the administrator credentials (if you have secured it already) in the fields given. • Now enter the serial number you had noted down earlier. If it has expired, repeat the download process to generate it again.

  7. For complete installation, follow the on-screen commands and choose Finish button. • Once done, new windows will pop-up on your screens. In this step, click Trust to give permission to Safari for access. • McAfee SiteAdvisor extension will be prompted for permission. Click Enable to add it to the Safari extension window. • Once it is completed, you can use the program and use it to scan your PC for any viruses.
